I am planning on putting together an eCommerce solution for Umbraco and thought of using Merchello. I have a few questions before committing and telling my client about their platform.
Anyone who has put an eCommerce solution online please share your experiences with me so that i know I'm choosing the right platform.
Also, anyone from the Merhcello team if you could send me a PM to discuss further that would be fine too.
Does Merchello run fine under Umbraco 7 on Umbraco Cloud?
I was running version 2.60 in the cloud, just at a development stage at the moment, but I got it to work with no problems.
One thing to watch for though is I had issues installing it via nuget, but installing it as a zip umbraco package worked fine.
Note: There has recently been an update 2.70 which seems to work fine for me on cloud. The only thing is you have to enter your products on your local and in the cloud, you can't use the content transfer features to sync merchello data - annoying.
Does Merchello offer things like product discounts and coupons out of the box?
Yes, pretty much has what you would expect, its open source so you can add stuff I guess.
Does Merchello integrate with Stripe or anything out of the box? What Payment Providers are available?
Yes, it has there are a few payment providers look at the project on git hub
What is Merchello's ideal store size in terms of number of products?
Not sure there is a limit as such.
Does Merchello handle user accounts or is this up to Umbraco'smembership provider?
Does Merchello scale well?
Hope so.... I am going to build the new Amazon :-)
