First time user of the plugin, this friday i tested it on 2 sites and everything seemed fine.
But it actually removed 1 of my main properties on a doctype and moved around some properties.
The scenario was like this(umbraco 7.1.8) :
had my dev site, and in the process of development i had put out a copy of the site/db so the customer could see how far it was and how it was working.
Then i had added alot of stuff, and wanted to put it live, so i tested umport. Installed on both ends (local/live).
Created an export(on both live/local), moved the local to live and imported it. Everything actually looked quite good only thing is that i lost a property and got some properties moved around.
I got 2(the live one before importing, and the local one that i imported) datasets if you wanna see.
Sorry to hear it did not work as you expected it to. Did you by any chance do the import analysis before importing, and if so - did it warn you about wanting to remove a property?
About the ordering of properties... Umbraco sadly doesn't enforce it's own sort order, unless you've explicitly sorted some properties. Umport tries to counter this by explicitly assigning a sort order to all properties the way they're sorted on the source environment, and subsequently re-order the properties accordingly on the target environment.
If none of the above makes any sense, sure you can send me the datasets and I'll see if I can make any sense out of what you're experiencing.
No worries kenn, thats why writing it, since its a great package even it had a few mishits. Why it did it i dont know.
I did the analysis and it warned me about a few things, didnt read it all, but it properly did say what happend.
Then i have an idea :) Could it be possible to add a feature where you could deselect/select the the changes you wanted ? and maybe write the name of the doctype the change is happening to. Since i had a lot of different doctype properties with the same name. Like heading occurs on more doctypes, "frontpage", "product". Just like bodyText often occurs more then once :)

Thank you for the feedback :)
I've been considering something along the same lines a few times. I might just have a look at it again when I have some spare time.

That would really make a difference and make this package even more useful.
Like if you could either select on upper categories(datatypes, doc types, templates etc.). Or on the lower level of the single change.
:D
is working on a reply...
