Category Discounts not applied to products in sub categories.

    Hi,

When a Category Act target is added to a promotion, the promotion does not get applied to products in subcategories of the category chosen in the target.

    Thanks,

    Matt

    Hi Matt,

    This is by design.

You could put all the products in a separate category and target that.

    Hi Soren,

Why is it designed that way?

How difficult would it be for me to create my own category target which would then apply to all sub categories as well?

    Hi Matt,

We didn't want to make the default targets too inclusive. My experience with store owners is that they typically want very focused discounts.

You certainly do your own target with the behavior you describe. All the pieces are there, so you can leverage the same UI we've got.

Extending Marketing Foundation: Adding A New Advertise and Act Target documents how to do it.

    Hi Soren,

If I want to use my more general category target as an Advertise item, do i need to implement it again as an IDisplayTarget or is there a way to use it in both?

    Thanks,

    Matt

Feel free to give a stupid answer to my previous stupid question.

Re-read the article and realised that I just had to implement IOrderLineTarget AND IDisplayTarget.
