To the author - new project planning using DAMP

Okay hy jeroen. Yesterday we managed pull out a little nice snippet with razor for the damp.
Now i'm planning to do building up a nice clean, will not say mediapicker, but the base for mediahandling and creating galleries with DAMP  (maybe new name like Digibiz Advanced Media Handler -> sounds cool or not ? :) ).

This should be the future features. Using 1 Picker and create multiple Items via the picker (maybe videosupport, will see how development works)
    - each item inside the picker will be extended with Textfield for Imagedescription
    - new field for Image title
    - new field for tagging (category sorting)
    - new content picker for direct linking to the content or url
    - drag and drop is also available

This is what i'm planning to do and i think DAMP is a nice start for this solution.
If there's some support and interest from your side it will be very amzing to handle this project together.

Greetings to you and thumbs up for the DAMP

    Hi Tony,

This sounds like a good idea, but there's more than one way of doing this. I've used DAMP for a lot of projects already and some galleries needed the same info as what you describe here. Instead of putting al this info into the picker I just extended the Image and File media type and store all the info there. If you than select the media item all the custom properties are also stored in the full media xml. This way the data can also be retrieved with other pickers. For example the default media picker which is used in the Embedded Content package. I've also used DAMP in combination with uTube and it worked perfectly :).

If you still want to develop this you could use DAMP as a start for it. The source code is available at http://damp.codeplex.com/. I could also add you as a contributor to this project and just create an extra datatype to the current package. That way you could use all the existing libraries and methods that are used in DAMP and all code will stay in one place. Currently the project exists out of 2 projects (so 2 dll's are added if you install it) so we could add it as a third project. Let me know what you would like to do.

Okay here comes the data :)

Mail at our.umbraco is [email protected]

and username at codeplex is tonibecker.

A little question to you. By the way the tip with the extended image datatype works like charm. But is it possible to enter the data for the new fields inside the DAMP popup or have i switch to the media folder everytime?

Okay here comes the new feature. I've managed to use DAMP as Imagepicker for givin back Image and Images inside Image as Thumbnails with jQuery.

Nice feature for featured Article docType.

    Hi Toni,

You've been added to the project and to codeplex. In the current version of DAMP if you press edit you go to media section, but in the latest change set on codeplex Sebastiaan updated the edit button so that it will be opened in a popup. Welcome to team DAMP ;-).

    Hi Toni,

It might be a good idea to look at this topic: http://our.umbraco.org/forum/ourumb-dev-forum/features/18620-Crop-picker-from-Mediapicker. It's about what other DAMP contributors are now working on. Currenlty I'm trying to find out if there are other solutions to set a start node. For example with an xpath.
