PublicMediaTree

This package allows you to easily configure a public media tree.

We found this solution very useful when having multiple back-end users that each manage a private folder in the media section. By creating an additional media tree, these users can gain access to a read-only shared/public media tree, one that is managed globally by administrators.

After installing and configuring this package:

  • Users that have a media start node configured will be able to see and pick content from the public media tree (read-only)
  • Users that do not have a media start node configured will gain full access to the public media tree

Installation Requirements

  • Umbraco 4.5 or higher (Important!)
  • A clean app tree for media (no additional app trees configured in the db)
  • Make sure to have read the installation guide attached ;-)

Package Contents

  • PublicMediaTree assembly
  • Actions that will update the existing media app tree and add a new media app tree
  • Action that will add the appsetting "PublicMediaTreeNodeID" to the web.config
