Possible to setup Merchello to sell tickets to events ?

I am looking to implement a site using Umbraco where we would like to sell tickets to events. We have a limited number of "shows", but those "shows" are then operated on specific dates and possibly multiple times per day. In addition to that, each event (a show and date/time combination) we would have a different price depending on the "level" of experience you would like.

Is this something you think Merchello could handle with our without a little extending ?

    Thanks

    Sorry Russell,

I missed the notification. One of our use cases was event tickets and seminar registrations =) ... so "in theory" it should be pretty straight forward.

You'd have to decide if you wanted to use the basket paradigm or simply go straight to an invoice, and whether or not a ticket is a "product" or not.

I would love to see a project like this started and would certainly make myself available to remove any roadblocks.

No worries Rusty, I have several projects ongoing at the moment so can put one aside easily.

So far, I have a setup kinda like this:

    Merchello products:

-- Events with Variants to represent menu choices (we do special event train rides)

    Umbraco datatypes:

-- Custom data type to represent a date and a time

    Umbraco document types:

-- Product Page with Merchello Product Picker, Multiple DateTime Picker

    Umbraco content:

-- One page per train ride, associated with a Merchello product and a list of dates and times it runs

So my idea is that I can render the product page, with the meal options and the date time options and when they go to purchase, I can add the product variant to the basket along with the date/time they chose. After purchase I just need to run some reports for our people internally to manage the roster and seating charts.

Sounds like a reasonable approach ?

    Thanks

    Russell

    That sounds great.

Do you have availability concerns on the various times and/or meal options?

FYI, I am working on reports right now and they are coming together. When I'm done you should be able to write a custom report as a plugin and have it resolve in the Merchello back office. I'll keep you posted and will walk you through it when the time comes.

Would be interested in seeing an example of Merchello being used for event registration as well as being able to purchase access to webcasts of past events.
