In Umbraco 7.4 there is a new 'Folder' document type. This is very useful but I can't rename the folder once created. This means if I wish to change the folder name I have to create a new folder, with my desired name, and then move all the document types to the new folder. I would like to be able to simply rename the folder.

Yes, it is indeed frustrating that it currently is not possible to rename the folders once they're created. I'm missing this option too - Must admit I can't remember whether support for this is something that is planned for later releases but it might also be a good idea to add it to the issue tracker - That way HQ will be notified about it and can act on it - If you have more things you think could be improved then feel free to add more issues if someone other has not already done so.
It is possible for others to vote up the issues, which does not necessarily mean that they will get more attention but if the vote count is significant enough I'm positive it will be handled.
If you decide to add this issue to the issue tracker then please reference it in here so others can follow the link and vote up the issue if they come across this post of yours too.

Posting for reference - as I just googled about the same issue and found this thread.
The ticket is on the issue tracker: U4-7580, due in Umbraco v7.6.0.
