    Uninstalling uBlogsy on Umbraco 7.2.x

    Hi all,

A word of warning when uninstalling uBlogsy 4.1.2 on Umbraco 7.2.x...thoroughly check all the files it has checked for deletion. A lot of the files it selects aren't necessarily anything to do with uBlogsy and may break your site, depending on how you have structured your 'Partials' folder.

On package uninstall it seems to look at any partials inside sub folders and flag them for potential deletion for some reason. This includes the Bootstrap partials inside the 'Grid' folder which are installed by Umbraco by default.

We've also had issues when installing uBlogsy 4.1.2 with it overwriting our existing master template when it is named 'master'.

    Thanks,

    -Sam

    Hi

It seems that this is a side effect of the packaging.

I've used a folder path instead of listing each file individually. Unfortunately it seems that uninstalling the package actually trashes too many things.

That said, ublogsy is just a few dlls, some config files, and some cshtml files. You can manually delete them, and also manualy modify \App_Data\packages\installed\installedPackages.config

    I hope that helps.

    Hi Anthony,

Yes we found it quite straight-forward to remove the package without causing any harm by reviewing all the files it checks for deletion and unchecking the ones that are not relevant. This post was really just a warning to those who may just trust the uninstaller to choose the correct files to remove without double checking each one.

    Cheers,

    -Sam
