This is really great work! I assume there are a lot of modifications and additions here, so where did you choose to make changes in this projects filestructure? Did you created your own Css and JavaScript files where you wanted to override settings? And could you use all partial views and functionallity as they came, or have you added new custom .css, .js and .cshtml files? i gladly take any advice working with the uMazel Starter Kit, and what should be taken into consideration for any future upgrades.
Well, actually Mazel was in fact an HTML theme, so it was just static HTML pages, JS and CSS files. What I did was to isolate "sections" from each template and create reusable, self-contained elements that could be as configurable as possible (although, truth is they can be even more configurable). In this context, all partial views are new. CSS and JS are basically the same - little changes here and there only.
I've been doing this a long time with actual client projects - taking an HTML theme and making it as flexible as possible, following this "section-based" approach. It seems to work so far so I just keep on using it :)
Regarding future upgrades - unfortunately Umbraco 7.6 introduced some breaking changes, and I'll have to adapt the theme to those changes (although there are people out there who did that themselves already). I'm planning to introduce new features and also involve Nested Content as well (which is going to be the core eventually, so why not!) I'm afraid that the next version will not be compatible with the existing though.
Thanks. I just started testing the theme so a newer version in the near future would be welcome. When do you expect the new version to be ready? I've not looked at what Nested Content can do, but do you plan to integrate Umbraco Grid this time?
Truth is I don't like the Grid very much and it doesn't fit well with my approach here. That said, I will include it if I can.
As for when - I hoped I would have something ready this summer, but instead I've been tackling multiple projects, so I'm not really sure - but I will do it as soon as conditions permit.

New to the community - this starter kit has been a life-saver. Most of all, it showed us how to structure the admin area in a way that makes sense to our content editors and us developers. I learned and used the autonode creation - the reusable parts folders - and all modules to further learn and understand MVC... no small task! This starter kit was as closer to plug-and-play than anything else in the Umbraco universe.

We actually did not customise much in the blog/news section, and many modules were used as-is. You'll also see many custom modifications.
I wrote this literally 2 years ago and was just now approved to comment. That's crazy. And why i continue to tell the Enterprise that this platform pushes paid support only and not Front End Develpoer Friendly. With persistence i have connected with a few on Twitter and Github. The forum has become the last place i look for answers.

But your package definitely gave me an enormous headstart ... after 3 days of work I managed to pull off what is currently there ...
