When we're ready to work on this, we'll blog and tweet about the help we need as well, which would be a good time to get your hands dirty with some actual code.
community/up-for-grabs will post an automatic message as to what it means:
Hi [name]
We're writing to let you know that we've added the Up For Grabs label to your issue. We feel that this issue is ideal to flag for a community member to work on it. Once flagged here, folk looking for issues to work on will know to look at yours. Of course, please feel free work on this yourself ;-). If there are any changes to this status, we'll be sure to let you know.
For more information about issues and states, have a look at this blog post
Thanks muchly, from your friendly PR team bot :-)
I am working on documenting the whole process better though, this documentation will appear soon! 👍
v9/dev roadmap
v8 looks to have shaped up pretty well and set the project up for a much smoother transition.
For those that are keen to contribute to the dotnet core port, is it a bit too soon to get stuck in?
At codegarden 19 back in may, the RFCs where launched.
The v9 dev has begun here : https://github.com/umbraco/rfcs/pull/6 and https://github.com/umbraco/rfcs/blob/master/cms/0001-project-unicore-intro.md
There is no coding being done yet :)
Yep, the RFCs are a great way to give some initial ideas if you have anything to suggest.
Also make sure to keep an eye on our roadmap: https://umbraco.com/products/roadmap/ (hint, we're not working on code at the moment) and the roadmap updates: https://umbraco.com/products/roadmap/roadmap-history/

Would it be possible to get some clarity around issue labels?
Specifically help-wanted vs community/up-for-grabs.
