One of our clients are asking if theres any trouble in using umbraco for a japanese site. Searching around i can't find any clues (a good thing.. i guess). The current site also uses Contour
Does anyone have experience about known issues, certain problems and/or workarounds?
shouldn't be a problem... Umbraco is pretty good at the multi-lingual stuff. I don't know the official word on contour support for unicode, but I would imagine it's good to go. I think http://www.vogue.co.jp is/was done using umbraco.... you could even offer your japanese clients a japanese friendly back-end if you can get someone to translate the umbraco\config\lang\en.xml to japanese. I have already half started this, but haven't finished yet unfortunately.

Thanks,

I don't know exact details, but I know that Hasselblad runs on Umbraco: http://hasselblad.jp/
They even have Japanese characters int the url's, so it does not seem to pose a problem there.
