Why do web pages ask me to install Umbraco?

I am using IE 8 with the latest updates( 8.0.6001.18975) and Firefox 3.6.12.  I am not a Umbraco user but when I visit many web sites and click a link, the page comes up Welcoming me to Umbraco and asking me to install it.  I do not understand why this is happening.  I am not a developer and am not trying to create web pages.  After a week of this, I tried to get past the problem by installing Umbraco but I didn't understand what the Configuration wizzard was asking for so I cancelled the install.  I really don't want to install it, I just want to stop the Welcome page from popping up instead of the page I tried to get to.

For example, go to this page which is an ad for Staples: http://weeklyad.staples.com/staples/default.aspx?action=entryflash&adref=%20staples_right_hand_nav&cm_sp=marketing-_-Weekly%20ad%20header-_-weekly%20ad%20header

Hover the mouse over any of the laptops.  When the window pops up, click on "Click to view aditional information".  That brings up another page about the laptop.  On that page, click on "View full product details".  On my IE, that causes another tab to open but instead of showing product information, it is the page that Welcomes me to Umbraco.  Under Firefox, the new page is not a Welcome page nor is it the page with "Full product details".  Rather, it is simply a blank page in a new tab - as if I had simply pressed 'new tab'.

I wonder if I might have messed up some Registry key or value.  I searched the Registry for Umbraco as a key or data but got no hits.

I hope you can help.  This has been driving me nuts for about 2 weeks.

Do you have proxy settings enabled in IE8?
