On a website running umbraco 4.0.4.1, we have the following recurring problem.Once in while the original uploaded images dissapear in the media folder. The thumbnails and the umbraco node remain.Does somebody has a clue what is causing this problem?

Did you check the 'remove' checkbox and saved the media item?
Nope,And it's not one image, it's a whole list of images (jpg, gif)
There was a know issue with this package some time ago: http://our.umbraco.org/projects/umbsearch2
Where it removed files from the media dir... Are you using that on the site?
