I couldn't find any details about how to become a "Gold" Certified Partner.
My guess would be that once your organisation is a Certified Solution Partner, then as you work closer with Umbraco HQ, they'd be offered the "Gold" status. This could entail encouraging customers to purchase additional licenses for Umbraco Pro products & support? Basically to encourage commercial use of the Umbraco CMS.
(These are just my opinions. I may be completely wrong.)
You can get more information about becoming an Umbraco Gold Partner on the partner status page which I think has been updated since you started this thread.
In a nut shell the Gold Partners pay 9,999 euros per year to be a Gold Partner, this money is then being used to employ additional full time developers who are meant to be spending their time working on the core product and working on fixing any bugs or issues found.
As Gold Partners we also have access to all the core HQ products which we can use on all our client sites and we are able to provide our clients with the "comfort" feeling that the Umbraco product has a commerical support package backing us up.
Whether it is worth the cost to us only time will tell, but it is certainly very good for the ongoing development of the platform.
In addition to the two above answers from a commercial point of view for your business this also tells your clients that you're very serious about Umbraco development and can possibly help your position in the customers mind if the choise is between your company and another company that does not have gold partner status.
I guess it's about who you're targeting - major clients are perhaps more likely to choose you over another Umbraco house if you're gold partner I think. So the benefits are that you support Umbraco and it's possible to brand your company stronger compared to competitors who are not gold partners.
How do you become a certified "Gold" Partner?
I know this may be the wrong place to post but I'm not sure where's best..
My question is how do you become a certified "Gold" Partner as opposed to a just a certified partner?
There doesn't seem to be any info on the main site?
Thanks in advance
Bex

Just my 2 cents.
