    URGENT: Cannot login to umbraco after password change of "umbracouser" in DB

    General

    Hello,

    I changed the password of "umbracouser" in the DB, because I had forgotten the previous password, but after that I cannot log into umbraco using Admin account. 

    I've tried to change the password for admin after reading threads in the forum, but it doesn't work for me. 

    Kindly help, I'm stuck and can't afford to lose data or make new installation :(

    Hi Hassan,

    I'm guessing the password was encrypted in the DB ? How about installing a seperate instance of Umbraco and copying the password field from this second install back into the first ?

    I think it's also possible to disable the password encryption by changing the passwordFormat attribute of the membership provider in the web.config from "Hashed" to "Clear" - it might be worth trying that first.

    Hi Hendy,

    Thanks, that worked. I changed the passwordFormat to Clear for both strings and then simply updated the password in DB to "default".
