    how the (yourauthcookie) differnciate between user and member in the webconfig file

    my query is where the member will have the rights to edit the website.

    how it is performed.

    The member will not be able to log into the backend.

    If you want members to be able to edit small portions of your site/page/document type you can create a custom user control for this.
