    Member Login Name field

The member creation form in the member section of Umbraco has a field called "Login Name". When we enter a name in this field, we can't find reference to it again. Member profiles aren't searchable by it, and using the bpMemberAdmin to search by that name is useless since the error message we get says "You must enter a name or an email address "

Are we missing something? What role does this field play?

    Hi Kevin

What version of Umbraco are you using?

When I search on the login in v4.7 the members details are showing up fine?

The login name is the one used when a member is logging in to your site. The name is the name of the member.

    Hope this makes sense.

    /Jan

Thanks for your reply, Jan. Forgive the delay in getting back to you.

I'm a little confused. The screenshot of our member registration form shows two fields "Login:" and  "Login Name:".

The field entered into the "Login" field becomes the name that users use to gain access to the site's protected areas and content.

"Login Name:" doesn't seem to do anything at all. It doesn't appear on a registered member's profile in Umbraco, and you can't search for members by it in Umbraco either. So what purpose does it serve?

Using Umbraco v 4.6.1 (Assembly version: 1.0.4029.25836), by the way.
