    using the umbraco membership provider just hangs

    Just started using umbraco and was trying to use the umbraco membership provider to create a new user.  When calling

    Membership.CreateUser(txtEmail.Text, txtPassword.Text, txtEmail.Text);

    It just hangs with no error.

    This is what I have in the web.config

     <authentication mode="Forms">
              <forms name="AuthCookie" loginUrl="Test.aspx" protection="All" enableCrossAppRedirects="true" defaultUrl="Test.aspx" />
          </authentication>
          <authorization>
              <allow users="?"/>
          </authorization>
          <!-- Membership Provider -->
          <membership defaultProvider="UmbracoMembershipProvider" userIsOnlineTimeWindow="15">
              <providers>
                  <clear/>
                  <add name="UmbracoMembershipProvider" type="umbraco.providers.members.UmbracoMembershipProvider" enablePasswordRetrieval="false" enablePasswordReset="false" requiresQuestionAndAnswer="false" defaultMemberTypeAlias="WebsiteUser" passwordFormat="Hashed"/>
                  <add name="UsersMembershipProvider" type="umbraco.providers.UsersMembershipProvider" enablePasswordRetrieval="false" enablePasswordReset="false" requiresQuestionAndAnswer="false" passwordFormat="Hashed"/>
              </providers>
          </membership>
          <!-- added by NH to support membership providers in access layer -->
          <roleManager enabled="true" defaultProvider="UmbracoRoleProvider">
              <providers>
                  <clear/>
                  <add name="UmbracoRoleProvider" type="umbraco.providers.members.UmbracoRoleProvider"/>
              </providers>
          </roleManager>

    Hey Mike,

    Welcome to the forum!

    Firstly what version of Umbraco are you using? For a long while Umbraco has just uses the standard ASP.NET membership provider. So something like this should work http://msdn.microsoft.com/En-US/library/d8t4h2es.aspx

    However if it's an older version this post http://www.nibble.be/?p=20 might help.

    Rich
