I have been some difficulties in integrating a forum into an existing Umbraco 5 website, I am fairly new to Umbraco and would value some advice:
I need to integrate a forum so that the Umbraco 5 URL matches this: irm.sd1devserv.co.uk/forum currently I have an installation of near forums which has been installed on a subdomain at this address: forum.sd1devserv.co.uk.
It has been suggested to me that I might be able to acheive integration by using Application Request Routing rules or Routing.
Could anyone provide some guidance on how this can be done.
thanks for the reply Richard, I have looked into using v4.7 and using nForums Package, but ideally I would like a solution that I can use with Umbraco 5 it doesn't necessarily need to be with a package but I would like to provide a solution to my company which allows us to continue using v5.
probably would be useful if I posted a few more details, I currently have two MVC 3 Forum applications which I have been using upto now, one is mvcForum and the other is nearforums.
what I would like to do is to get one of these forums to integrate with Umbraco so that when user navigate to this address pattern: companyname.servername.co.uk/forum they are presented with the installed third party forum application.
At this present moment in time I do have an installation of nearforums which is found at this address: forum.sd1devserv.co.uk
Would it be better to attempt an integration with Umbraco 5, revert back to v4.7 which does have a package for forums and also can be integrated with third party applications, leave the forum on a subdomain as it currently is or wait for an appriopriate v5 forum package?

Hi Simon,
Umbraco V5 doesn't have a forum yet. You might want to checkout Umbraco V4.7 which allows you to install the nice NForum Package.
Cheers,
Richard
