This is the strangest and vaguest problem I've come across
to date.
Umbraco 4.7.1
Page requests for months have been quick and responsive (around
1 second), then for a few days for no apparent reason and with no changes to
the server are suddenly very slow (more like 30 second). This is coupled with
the process for the App Pool taking up 95%+ of the processor. Suddenly now page
load speeds have reverted back (almost) and processor usage has dramatically
dropped.
This has been happening on both the hosting server and on my
local development machine.
I'm posting this in the vain hope that someone else has come
across something similar and could perhaps point me in the right direction of
where to look.
