The high-level goal is to be working in teams to create something in just a few hours. What is created can be shown at a special session at the UK Festival.
Here are a few things we think would be worthwhile:
+1 for a bugsquash team! I've seen 650 issues in the past few days and a lot of the 350 that are now left are pretty easy to fix. I could make a selection of them ahead of time but of course anybody can pick whatever they want to solve.
I'd suggest teams of 5, with a goal for the day - whether that be bug-fixing, new feature, package dev.
Reflecting on last year's v5 hackathons (both Dutch and UK), although I very much enjoyed both sessions, my frustration was the lack of clear goals and resulting output (e.g. a package / release). A sense of achievement.
We tried this at our local group's hack-day, which was focused on developing a package and releasing it by the end of the session - which we did very successfully!
As for other ideas - those are cheap, we've got a load on Trello and my gist. As long as we decide on them before the event. :-)
I know it's not entirely in the spirit of a hack day, but is there any chance of a group for updating the Umbraco documentation on GitHub (or at least document the new features being built during this event)?
New features and bug fixes are a definite win, but the basic documentation is still in need of TLC, and is the biggest gripe for newbies (including myself) trying to get under the hood of Umbraco. With up-to-date information there will be a greater resource for Umbraco developers, new or old, to call on to build more new features and help with bug fixes - and take part in future hack days like this one!

Good stuff!
It would be great to get a list of bugs that would be super fast to fix. Quick wins!
Any idea how many attendees?
We've planned for 20.
Could go higher.
Depends on demand.

Cheers, Lee.
Agreed.
We need to define some acheivable goals. Ones which we know can be done in 5 hours.

That's a great idea! A documentation team!
