How to recover a deleted project?

    Hi,

A couple of days ago I was extracting some data from the project and install some packages to help me with the task. After I was all done, I deleted some of the packages and along with that I must have deleted the whole project. I cant figure out how can you be able to delete your project from the "Installed packages".
Is it possible to recover any of the information ?

    Thanks in advance.

Hi Jorata and welcome to our :)

From your description above it does not sound like it's possible to recover the lost parts unless you use a disk recovery tool of some kind. I'm no expert here but I think I would ask google.com :)

I don't know if you by any chance use version control, but if not I think you should consider having a look at hg/mercurial, which you can read more about here http://hginit.com/

    Hope this helps.

    /Jan

    Hi,

    Thanks for the response.
Unfortunately the project was not my own and the other guys dont have any version control or backups.
I was wondering if there is still something like a backup on the umbraco database and the project can be restored ?

    Best regards!

What do you mean by "You must have deleted the whole project" do you mean you deleted all the files?

Removing a package might 'break' the site but it won't 'delete' the site.

    Hi,

That's exactly what happened Rich,I was trying Contour out and I didn't found any use for it. The problem probably occurred after I deleted it.
Although everything is alright now. Thanks for opening my eyes.
