Hi all please take the time to read it means a lot ;)
I really need some help and inspiration from all my fellow
umbraco community members. I am approaching my 4th and final year in university
in September and as part of the course I have to create a final year project
which is worth 40 credits and works out to be one third of the final year
overall mark. I’m really keen to obtain a good degree so I’m already starting
to think about things now even though my project is due for hand in next may. There’s
400 hours approx. allocated for this alongside other modules.
Six months ago I was introduced to umbraco and instantly
fell in love with it and I would love to base my final year project on upon the
umbraco framework. However, at this time of writing I’m only a novice with
basic knowledge of the fundamentals but I’m learning new things every day.
I’ve spoken to my course leader and he is more than happy
for me to develop my project using the umbraco framework but what he has said
is that he doesn’t just want a boring website with 100s of pages. He wants me
to create a unique immersive website that highlights that I have used and have
a good understanding of key web development skills & techniques such as
XML, XPATH, XSLT, CSS, HTML, JAVASCRIPT, AJAX etc.
One example he gave me was something like a map that that
displays address locations and when you hover over a specific location the Java
script is activated and the full address displays.
So now I have been left thinking of what I can come up with?
I need a unique idea/theme to base my CMS upon and one that will completely
immerse my audience and WOW the people who will be marking my work. I also need
to pay attention to responsive design and ensure whatever I create works
equally well on other devices such as smartphones and tablets.
Any feedback, idea suggestions or links would be much
appreciated and will hopefully help me on the road to using umbraco to gain a
good degree and hopefully secure a job in the future.
