Is Umbraco appropriate for developing a complex user portal? Advice please

    Hello,

I've used Umbraco before and really enjoyed doing so.  We used it to build a portfolio site for mobile phone accessoires, and it proved very beneficial.

Now, we have a new project where we intend to build an online portal that allows both us (as a business) and our end users to log in, and submit work to us to be completed.  The portal needs to include a whole number of workflows where the assigned 'ticket' goes back and forth between us and the client (and a third party).

Some of the questions I have about whether it will be good for us or not include:

    • Can we use third party controls, such as Teleric controls?
    • Can we use web forms?  Or can we only use user controls, xslt, mvc etc?
    • Can we create a seperate database?
Does anyone have any experience using it for anything other than a "standard" website?
    Any advice is appreciated.
    Many thanks
