I've been working with Umbraco for a couple of years now but currently my deployment/testing workflow is terrible and I would like to improve it! Although Umbraco as a Service looks very promising, I'm not sure  *exactly* what it does, so I'm looking for alternatives that are available at the moment.

Currently I use a single VPS for both live and development sites and although it's nice and simple to copy folders and duplicate a database, there's so many potential problems involved. Ideally, I'd like to develop on my local machine and then push the site (files and db) to a staging server when needed but at the same time. Then once a client has updated any content with Umbraco on the staging site I can then push this to the production server along with any new data.

I'm probably being very naive here, but is there something even close to managing this kind of workflow with folders, db et al with Umbraco? What is your deployment workflow?
