I am using Umbraco 4.0.3 (No plans to upgrade for at least 6 months) and would like to add server side validation to ContactUs form.
I have been able to add java validation to jquery.validate.min.js but I can't find where to add validation on the server side to stop bots that bypass java to send spam emails.
I am interested in creating an empty field and when the submit button is pressed, the server side code will check if the filed is empty (OK) or filled in (likely bot, so don't process the form).
I'm not sure where to put the code, it does not seem to be on the master template, user controls or java...
Can you please let me know where I would put such code?
There are so many upgrade steps from this old version I think the time would be better spent building a new site on a newer version so if anyone can help patch the spam issue on this old version, let me know where to put the server side code, otherwise I guess I'm stuck with it for the next few months..
