Hi,
I would love if there was any way for me to get information about wheather or not an issue on http://issues.umbraco.org/ has been acknowledged by HQ or not.
As per now i have no idea if a report is going to be handled or not. It feels kind of frustrating to be honest.
If the issue isn't closed then it's acknowledged or nobody's tried to reproduce it yet. If it's set to Open, it's reproduced, if the Due in version field is set to something then it will be dealt with.
You'll understand we need to prioritize, it is impossible to fix every single issue and yes that is frustrating, both for you and me. But you know what: creating issues still helps, there's quite a few people out there who will be inclined to send us a pull request fixing the problem. And if we're not doing anything about the bug that annoys you the most then we would love to see your contribution as well. Even if nothing else, other people who run into the issue can vote for it and I regularly look through highly voted issues to see if we're dropping the ball somewhere.
I clarified the issue.
But i'm actually more concerned about the checked-if-read/need-more-info notifications.
An issue as http://issues.umbraco.org/issue/U4-4038 is critical and can destroy an entire site. It is solved today, but there was no info from HQ at all. Not that it's been read, nor solved. Or that it needed to be clarified.
I'm sure i'm not the only one that experiences the lack of feedback. There are loads of excellent issues that hasn't been addressed at all in the tracker.
I guess a quick comment should do it. To be fair, we all spend a lot of time reporting issues. I think we could use the encouragement of some kind of feedback.
I understand your frustration and I'm sorry that I forgot to provide feedback on this issue. Again, I feel your frustration: we simply do not have the resources to comment on every single issue that pops up.
Also, a lot of these issues have a tendency to fix themselves or people find a good workaround, which saves the HQ loads of time when not responding to every single issue being created.
And finally, if you do find that you need your issues to be fixed with higher priority than we can give them, then we do have paid support plans with bug fix guarantee. I'm not trying to be a salesman here but I'm just letting you know that there's also an option to actually buy our time (which means we can hire more people who can look at and fix more issues, and help prevent issues from appearing through testing, etc. etc.)
You should also keep in mind that for every issue we need to do triage, and your issue might not affect anybody but you or a small subset of people. Again, we look at highly upvoted issues to see if we need to address things those excellent that have slipped through the cracks.

I also just realized that I don't understand your last created issue, care to clarify?

Oh well. But please try to leave a footprint i the future : )
By default YouTrack sends a mail when a member of the HQ reads the issue, that's one footprint. :-)
.. but again. It's not about my issues. Rather some kind of routine that signals to the reporter that you guys have read the issue.
"By default YouTrack sends a mail when a member of the HQ reads the issue" Does it? Where did i disable that? : )
"Receive notification when my issue is noticed by the project team"
AAAAH! Excellent! : )
:-) And with regards to your issue, I've now had time to repro it and unfortunately it's confirmed :-( Will get it fixed soon!
: )
is working on a reply...
