Long running process in back office causes entire back office to hang for all users
We have a client with a pretty large multi-site install in a simple load balanced environment. One server is designated as the admin server and the back office is only accessible on that server. The problem we have is that there are some long running data import processes that are triggered on the admin node and whilst they are running the entire back office just hangs until the process is complete.
Right now we are deleting 100 nodes (and their children) and it is taking forever. It has so far been running for close to an hour. During this time nobody can load a single page in the back office. This is not a one off occurrence either, it is repeatable and happens regularly.
My question therefore is - why does a single action in the back office affect all other page requests like this?
