When you use the member locator at http://our.umbraco.org/people/member-locator you can find people near you. When you click on a person they will appear on the map and if you click their link in the popup bubble you'll get their umbraco member profile information, which shows as much (or as little) information as the person wishes to divulge in their profile. Twitter is probably the easiest way to reach people you don't yet know.

our.umbraco Member Locator does not expose email or website details, only their Twitter username. You can use this to then follow individual members and contact them directly.

Niels, this might be an idea for the next our.umbraco build - allow users to choose which personal details go on their profile page? I know I'd rather like to see a form2email feature so I can send an email to other members and vice-versa without exposing email addresses, and I'd also like to stick my website on my profile, not just my company name.

I'd have no objections to having my website listed (and exposed) but I don't really want my email (or other contact info) exposed. But that may just be me.

I think if we have chat feature / any notification whos online with in the forum it will be helpful to new bies like me. Its my opinion only.
