    Pages not publishing - error message

    I have been working on my development version of my site for a while now but all of a sudden I can't publish anything that is unpublished - I get the error

    "can not be published, because a parent page is not published."

    The parent is the homepage and that is published, I have no idea what has happened. I tried renaming the umbraco.config file within App_Data so that Umbraco would create a new one, which it did, but this didnt sort the issue.

    Any ideas on how to fix this please.

    Hi Owain,

    Did you check access rules for app_data folder ?

    Hi, I have and they were fine. Seems a problem with the recycle bin because I emptied it and for some annoying reason, it's also deleted the nodes that wouldn't publish, which were under the root.

    Problem fixed, but I've had to recreate the pages that were deleted.

    I'm still having an issue though - I've just created a new page called offers. It says it's published and available on my site. It does show up on my navigation on the homepage but when I click it I get a 404, page not found.

    Any ideas why this might be happening?
