Using HTTP module for dictionary translations?

Hi, I have been looking at some samples for multilingual websites. After creating the languages and using the dictionary to specify the different translations for the texts we have, a lot must be done, like writing an XSLT, etc.

I was wondering about a maybe simpler approach, which consists of 2 parts:

    1) when in our templates we want to refer to a dictionary value using its key, we just output something like: |KEY| or some other separator
    2) we create a new http module (which can read current language from the session, the URL, whatever).  The module uses a Regexp to parse a response and replaces any occurence of |KEY| with the appropriate Dictionary value retrieved from Umbraco

Any thoughts on the viability, disadvantages, etc would be appreciated.
