    Recommend a VPS

    Hi Guys,

I know there are a number of "hosting" threads on here, but I was wondering if anybody could recommend a good VPS? (I would like first hand referals)

I'm after something to act as a staging server and to host a couple of small scale producation sites.

I'm currently with VPSLand, but am not happy with their service at all, so I am looking for something new.

My current favourite is Softsys Hosting- Bronze VPS after reading a number of threads on here. I was also interested in Daily.co.uk as they have a good offering, but have heard bad reviews. Has anybody tried these? Or can you recomend any others?

    Many thanks

    Matt

If physical location isn't a big deal, you can get fairly cheap hosting in Sweden. I've tried VPS with Strongbox (http://strongbox.se), and it packs a punch. Furthermore, their shared hosting has Full Trust, so I host a good deal of Umbraco sites that way as well.

I use http://fullcontrol.net for my servers, but also tested a softsyshosting server a few months back.  Softsys has great speed and seems fairly good, but I don't think they provide any type of backup.  Fullcontrol provides optional backups.  What you need to watch and consider is time to recovery if a failure happens, be it with vps or dedicated.

If you choose to consider Full Control, let me know, and I can possibly get you a decent discount.

    Cheers guys for youre recomendations,

Casey, looking on SoftSys' website, it does look like offer an optional daily backup for $10pm. This concidered, do you still prefer fullcontrol over SoftSys? Do you know how their support compares? How quick a turn around are you looking at for most questions?

    Many thanks

    Matt
