I am wondering the same thing. We have a centralized sign-on service in our organization, using a standard Windows Identity Foundation STS with a custom repository.
We require every user on our site to be authenticated, but we would like to use built-in Umbraco controls for access control and general authorization based on the claims returned from our STS.
So, has anyone come up with a documented way to get Umbraco setup to authenticate to Active Directory using SAML? I've seen lots of requests dating back to 2010 but nothing current on a solution.
And lets be clear Julie, because from this thread I cant tell which direction people are talking about, but we need to abiltity to logon to the umbraco console with SAML, not log users into a web app developed on top of umbraco.
Umbraco compatibility with SAML Web SSO
Hi guys,
I have a requirement to integrate Umbraco membership with SAML Web SSO.
I have never integrated with it before and would like to have a bit of advise:
- Are there some existing modules for SAML WebSSO login?
- Could you recommend the approach/articles to start with?
- How hard could that be?
Thanks in advance, Anton.

We are using Umbraco 5.
Any tips at all would be helpful.

Hi,
doing research on the same topic currently, I have a page written in plain ASP.NET WebForms that uses STS from http://thinktecture.github.io/Thinktecture.IdentityServer.v2/.
Now I porting it to Umbraco.
Like in the posts above I need to provide members login to umbraco page via centralized STS and use claim based authentication.
I use latest Umbraco 6.0.5.
Best regards,
Russlan
