i would like the content managers to be able to edit the Umbraco dictionary items from the Front-end, since the context of every dictionary item is not always clear from the Umbraco back-end.
Is there any way of doing this? (already looked into the Canvas live editting, but that doesn't work for dictionary items)!

That would be a very nice addition to canvas. Dictionary items is quite isolated from the way other content is managed now.
By the way: have a look at Richards blog post about dictionary items. Not really an answer to your question but still interresting... :)
