    Starting with Umbraco 5

    Hello.

I'm a new Umbraco user. I started by downloading Umbraco 5 and playing with it a bit. I already userstood the basics of Document Types, Nodes, Macros (Xslt/Razor/Ascx), Templates...etc and created a small fully functionnal website.

Now I need to start writing more complex macros. And I'm really lost and can't find any documentation about Umbraco API (how to get Nodes user created properties, title, Media elements...).

Anyone can please point me to a blog/article/whatever so I can start learning Umbraco API.

I'm a professional ASP.net developer, so I just need where to start with Umbraco API, something like "Umbraco API for dummies".

    Thank you all.

I'm in the exact same position. I've been searching for documentation. But as far as i can see there isn't any, apart from a few blog posts by early adopters. Even if you become a paying customer then still you can only get help with Umbraco 4.

If proper documentation is to much work then atleast a complex site (build while following best practices) would be nice.

Guys, documentation is a little hard to find, but there is some - for starters I think the Razor Walkthrough series will help: part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4, part 5, part 6, part 7, part 8

Hopefully this linkage gives them a little more exposure.

@Grant: While it's a great series, it's for the razor functionality in v4.

We're hard at work making tutorials for v5 for the new Umbraco.TV launching in April. We've also added a new area on Our called /documentation which we're constantly improving (it was started just weeks ago). So I can surely feel the pain of lacking docs compared to v4, but it's been around for years, while v5 isn't even 3 months old yet. We'll get there - one step at the time.

Niels, that's understandable, but from what it accessible and while you're compiling more current documentation, it's the most we have to start deriving stuff from.
