updateDate is the last time the page has been saved, and that include save&published. You can not see the published data any where. But if the page has been published the updateDate is the last published date. I had the same thoughts as you have and by reverse engineering in found this, if any one can comment or enlightend this, please feel free to do so
understanding publishDate vs. updateDate
I'm trying to understand publishDate and updateDate, used from the API.
Am i right in this:
Publishdate is the actual date that is in the Publish date field on the page, not the date the document was last published.
And updateDate is the date the document was last saved.
So if ther is no data un the Publish date field on the page trying to acces the publishDate property will return nothing.
If this is right, how can i get the last date the page was actually published, if it is at all possible ?
Thanks
Mikael
