Thanks for your interest all. Here is the scenerio.
Using Umbraco as a preferred CMS, we need to develop an Intranet portal plus and Internet portal (ie: two portals) whereby all content is added via the Intranet portal (incorporating AD authentication). Through scheduled FTP, content added to the Intranet will then update the Internet site overnight. All content added to the Intranet portal will be tagged as either ‘private’ or ‘public’. Private means that content will only be available for users on the Intranet. Public means that content will be available for the public to see at the public Internet site. Public also means this same content will also be available for Intranet users. Content such as News, Events, Links and Positions Vacant would mostly be public – but some may be chosen to be private.
Like any portal, all content will be either ‘pages’ or ‘files’ (‘pages’ are just normal HTML pages – text and images). If a ‘page’ is tagged as private, this means that page should only be accessible to users on the Intranet – not the Internet site. If tagged as ‘public’, that page is available on both Intranet and Internet.
The only ‘private’ content that is sensitive and confidential material that must remain on the Intranet server and not copied to the Internet server will be ‘files only’. Eg: Policies and Procedures, Board of Management minutes, etc. These files will all be PDFs. These files must remain on the Intranet.
The Internet portal will have no login or authentication. It is simply a public Internet site.
Question: Is this possible using Umbraco as the CMS?
We are working towards a similar solution to what you have described at the moment. If you need to bounce any ideas we may be able to help each other out.
Could Umbraco be used in this scenerio?

Have just now been informed this is possible using Umbraco.
