How to use examine to fetch a contenttype?

Hi! I need some way of doing the same thing as ApplicationContext.Current.Services.ContentTypeService.GetContentType is currentky doing.. but I would like to do it using examine to avoid database queries.. is this possible?.. Could someone please guide me in the right direction..
