Examine newby - help creating first search tool

    Hi guys,

I am in the process of setting up an estate agent website and need some help in creating the property search tool.  I have read the Examining Examine article (http://umbraco.com/follow-us/blog-archive/2011/9/16/examining-examine.aspx) and while I know this is the way to go I have no idea as to how to start.

I'm keen to write this myself but could really do with a pointer as to the order and components that I need to code, could someone please either point me in the way of a tutorial for a newby developer or provide some further detail.

I'm using umbraco ver 7 for the development.

    Hey Brian,

All depends on the functionality that you like to create.

There are some packages that help building search functionality :

    http://our.umbraco.org/projects/website-utilities/ezsearch

https://www.xfssearch.com/ (which is a commercial package)

Thanks for these Dave.  Are you able to set up multiple field search like the Foxton's website

Maybe this video can point you in the direction you want  : http://uhangout.co.uk/video/DyEeAe0WV6Y

You can always ask Ismail questions on twitter. He is the examine guru. https://twitter.com/ismailmayat

    Thanks Dave,

Looks like I'll be requiring some development assistance!
