Hi,

I am new to Umbraco and would like to ask a quite general question.  We have an MVC app running and would like to have Umbraco as a separate site.  However, we would like to have existing MVC authentication mechanism used in Umbraco.  In other words, users in Umbraco should be able to log-in with their credentials (which they have obtained from our main MVC site) and use in Umbraco site.  

For example when user enters login details in Umbraco, the Umbraco app should access an MVC app to use it's authentication and authorization mechanisms.  Is this possible at all if Umbraco is not embedded withing the same MVC solution?

I am not looking for technical answers, only the high level perspective.
