Which Forum do you recommend for umbraco?

I notice that uForum is still in alpha. Is there another forum package that people have used with umbraco that has worked well for them, or is uForum stable enough for production?

    Cheers!

    Shaun

As far as I'm aware there isn't another forum available as a package.  uForum should be stable enough - especially since it is used to power this forum (Our Umbraco).

Alternatives... try Yet Another Forum (YAF)? http://www.yetanotherforum.net/

It can be included in your Umbraco site as a User Control reference.

    Cheers, Lee.

uForum is not quite feature complete, since there are no admin features (yet). So it depends a bit on your needs.

Also you should note that uForum currently only works with umbraco's own members, and not other membership providers.

Aaah. I didn't realise this was running uForum. well that answers my query about stability. I love this forum, its light years better than the old one.

When you mention that there are no admin features Morten, are you referring to the ability to moderate offensive posts and that sort of thing? I'm assuming I can kick unruly members via the Members admin.

Yes, it is the moderation I mean. There is no UI for deleting unwanted posts/comments at the moment.

    Hi,

Any progress with the uForum? I saw that youre up to a 1.0 beta relase.
Are there any plans on extending it with the functionality seen here (as voting etc)?

    : )

I'm always using Yet Another Forum. It does require some messing around to get working, but that's why I have a bare-boned working version of Umbraco + YAF in a zip ready to deploy when I need it.

Steen, would you mind sharing that bare-bone version?

I'll take a look at it, I might have to change a few passwords etc., but apart from that, sure.

As far as adding the voting stuff and so on, there is an ambition from the core team to get the source running this site available to the community. The uForum Basics package is meant to be very simple, and I don't think it will get the voting features (which are actually a separate project called uPowers, which is not released yet).

@Rich: yeah, that's the description I followed when I created the installation.

Hm.. I wonder, maybe it's possible to make a package out of it. Well, I don't have the time atm.
