Yesterday a problem started occuring upon login of multiple users. In case only one user logs in everything works fine. As soon as another user logs in, the connection poll to the umbraco database gets filled with 100+ connections, which crashes umbraco.
I also tried to connect using the same user from two different computers, and that didn't cause any problems. As soon as a different user logged in the problem reappeared.
We are using umbraco v4, but not the latest version. We are running approximately 20 pages (20-50 subnodes), which in my opinion is quite little.
No the website is in a shared app pool with some other applications. It's a simple web page, that doesn't include logins of its own - we are trying to login to the Umbraco content managment interface, to manage the contents. When the menitoned connections die out everything works, but as soon we try to login and fill the connections the whole umbraco crashes - including the published websites (they become inaccesible)
Putting it in an own poll didn't make any difference. Permissions shouldn't be a problem, as we were able to work without problems for the last few months.
I get this error:
Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to obtaining a connection from the pool. This may have occurred because all pooled connections were in use and max pool size was reached.
Would an upgrade to a newer version of umbraco solve the proble? if so, are there any threats of losing existing data upon upgrade?
Umbraco crashes when multiple users login

Thanx in advance
mjefim,
Is your website in its own app pool? Also when you mean login do you mean backend or front end (eg is your website and extranet)?

Ismail

Matic,
Try putting it in its own app pool. Also check your permissions on folders.
