Hello, New to the forum and Umbraco. I am working on a new installation of Umbraco and was wondering if anyone has successfully extended or integrated a Digital Asset Management solution into Umbraco, such as Artesia, OpenText, Extensis Portfolio or any other Image/Digital asset software. I am working for a large publisher who has several thousand images already tagged and databased.
I can't say I have worked with any DAMs myself yet (I have been looking for internal purposes) but as a way to intereact with a DAM, you may want to checkout my Universal Media Picker (UMP) package currently in development (Release coming real soon).
As long as your DAM has an API, you'll be able to write a provider for the UMP for it to connect, and select a file from your remote location. It's then just a case of creating a macro or whatever you want to handle the selected file.
You can find the current code for UMP here (Inluding an installable package):
Very interesting! My dream would be to hook Umbraco directly to our internal asset database and simplify image selection when creating content. Perhaps someone out there has some experience with enterprise DAM and Umbraco.
Matt - Guess it wouldn't hurt to post about it here. May be a bit off topic though for this thread so I will create a new topic in the appropriate thread. It all centers around selling Umbraco to management/client vs Drupal.

Matt, do you accept private questions? Would love to ask you a question offline.
Thanks Rob
