Has anyone integrated the web.config file that comes with html5 boilerplate with the Umbraco web.config? Can it be safely ignored or are there some changes that are recommended?
I have used the above on a minor site but did just leave the web.config file out. I don't know if they can be merged or if you miss anything by using some of the settings in it.
But as you probably know it can't just replace the umbraco web.config. But are there any specific parts of this web.config you're thinking would be best practice/good to have in the "default" one?
I'm not sure either. I have ignored the boilerplate config file on a previous project and that didn't seem to have any impact - just wondering if that is the best approach going forward...
Starting with html5 boilerplate
Hi,

Jan,
I'm not sure either. I have ignored the boilerplate config file on a previous project and that didn't seem to have any impact - just wondering if that is the best approach going forward...
Hi Paul
What kind of impact are you thinking about?
You can easily use the html, css and js out of the box without worrying about the web.config file if that's what you're thinking about? :-)

I guess I am wondering why it is even included. I assume there is some purpose in the config file even being produced with Boilerplate?
For example these is a section "GZip static file content. Overrides the server default which only compresses static files over 2700 bytes"
Are these relevant/useful in an Umbraco project?
is working on a reply...
