I know it's only Monday, but where do I find the "Examine for Dummies" material? I need to extend Examine to index PDF docs, content on the front end as well as an external members database. So far what I've read might as well be in a foreign language.
Very surprised no one replied to your ticket, no doubt 5 years later you have solved your problem, I just thought for anyone else looking it might be useful to have a link to the official Examine documentation, it's not exactly a "Examine for Dummies", but it gives you a start.

For indexing content in PDF documents take a look at UmbracoExamine.PDF
I haven't had the need to use it yet, but it seems to be a great tool.
