    Can we write custom code to connect to Sql server database in Umbraco?

    Hi,

    First, Am new to umbraco!!

    Can any one help me to fix following error please?

    Can we write c#.net code(As just like we do in asp.net) to connect to sql server database.

    If yes can you please tell me how to connect to database using coding.(As just like we do in asp.net)

    Hi Srini,

    Welcome to the Umbraco forum!

    Connecting to a SQL Server 'in' Umbraco is no different to how you would do it in a 'normal' ASP.NET application.

    Where you would like to connect to the SQL server database, in a user control?

    You mention an error but I can't see any?

    Thanks for your quick reply,

    Actually I dont know where to start.

    To the best of my knowledge we can create a website in two ways (1) Gallery and (2) Template (suggest me which you will recommend)

    Gallery:

    if we create a website fro gallery i can access that site in two ways one is from webbrowser and another one is from webmatrix application.

    Can you please suggest me in this?

    And also Can you give me the steps to connect to db. please

    Hi,

    I'm not really sure why you think you need to connect to the database?

    Have you watched these great introduction videos here http://umbraco.com/help-and-support/video-tutorials/introduction-to-umbraco
