    New packages: Forms

    Hi all!

    We just launched a couple of short screencasts demonstrating 2 upcoming packages:

    1. Google Analytics
    A package that is tightly integrated with Umbraco and the Google Analytics API. Users are now easily able to see an overview of their GA statistics, at page level! We are still extending this package with new features and stats. It will be a bless for the SEO fanatics!

    2. Forms
    With this new package everyone will be able to create their own forms with Umbraco. It’s easy and very intuitive to use! We combined everything you need and put it in one place/environment. Meaning, you don't have to leave the Content section/area anymore to create new forms. Developers would be able to easily extend this module themselves by creating new form controls and form handlers. With only a few lines of code you can send multiple emails and push the form data to a webservice at the same moment! One other important thing (to us) is that the front end will be following WCAG guidelines for creating accessible forms.

    The screencasts: http://www.axendo.nl/community-preview

    Both packages are still under development and the screencasts are just only showing a small part. This is only to give you an idea of where we're heading.
    Please let us know what you think about these packages and don't hesitate to let us know about features that you definitly would like to see in these packages.

    ------
    Can you please only repond to the Form package in this topic. There is another topic regarding the GA module. Thank you!

    Best regards

    First off, kudos on the formbuilder - that's some great work and just what umbraco has needed!

    I'd love to see the following:

    * Dropdown field type
    * Validation (perhaps using the same rexexp that the main datatypes have)
    * Anti-spam (hidden field, captcha?)
    * Clean markup with classes to allow for styling (doc2form does this very well)

    Cheers,
    Dan

    Martijn, Ron and Hans,

    Absolutely fabulous work! As Dan says, I'd love to see where this is heading, especially in the field of validation, extensibility (which you've already mentioned)... I'm interested in seeing a demo at the next Benelux umbraco user group meeting ;)

    Keep up the good work!

    Cheers,
    /Dirk

    Looks great,
    I agree with validation, and recommend add cssClass property for better styling (can be used with jquery validation also)

    Thanks for your input so far.

    * Dropdown field type
    I'm developing this formcontrol as we speak.
    Also, there will be an single select with radiobuttons.

    * Validation (perhaps using the same rexexp that the main datatypes have)
    I'm using a similar validation, the basic idea is that the regex validations are stored in a configfile. These validation can then be used in a formcontrol.

    * Anti-spam (hidden field, captcha?)
    This control is already created and will be added as a formcontrol soon.

    * Clean markup with classes to allow for styling (doc2form does this very well)
    Of course

    Furthermore:
    - It will be possible to add your own custom formcontrols using one simple interface.
    For example: Selecting a product from external application of some sort.
    - You can add alternative submit controls using an interface
    For example: use an image instead of an button.
    - You can create SubmitHandlers using an interface
    For example: Send the result to an external application.

    Please keep your ideas coming!

    We are ready to release a private beta. So please drop me an email and i'll send the package with instructions asap.

    One minor thing though, the Form Designer only works with 4.0.1 or later and .net 3.5.

    Please don't put any Captcha's into forms.

    Go with defensio or mollom integration instead!
