I am a complete newbie and am evaluating whether or not I could use umbraco for my next website. So far I have been creating my own ASP.NET sites from scratch and hence have created a seperate database.
For my next project I would like to include a feature for a user to register (including some personal data like address, phone, etc) and then they would create events (date, time, location, topic, pics, etc). Plus they could make online payments through an external payments provider. Further data would be planned for later.
I would like to analyse this data & create reports afterwords. Would any of you experienced umbraco data architects recommend a way to do this? Shall I let the Umbraco db store this data or should I write this data to an external database.
Some other features I require is multilingual and searchable, which may have an effect on database architecture.
Is Umbraco a good choice for such a site and if yes, what would be best practises?
Advice on creating a seperate database
