Bringing content and media closer together

    Hi,

One thing that annoys me about Umbraco, is the way that the content- and media sections are ”forced apart”. That said, I’m currently seeking a solution to following:

Whenever a Gallery Item is created in a Gallery Folder (document types), I would like the media tree to be updated with the corresponding folders. The next step would be to associate each content node with a media node, to be able to pass the media id to a media picker/uploader (on the document type). This way I will still have the separation between content and media, but for the users it will be a lot easier to keep the two trees synchronized.

To achieve this, will I have to create an extension that updates the corresponding nodes, or is it possible to synchronize the two with any functionality already in Umbraco? For example using relations.

Any guidance (or solutions) will be greatly appreciated :)

PS: Not quite sure that this is the correct place for the question. Please excuse me if wrong.
