Allowing Members to use LiveWriter to add Posts to the Blog?
Hi,
This is similiar question to this one Blog-for-members but I want to use LiveWriter to allow members to update the blog.
The first question is whether the Member can update the blog with LiveWriter? I assume the answer might be 'no' so would that mean that the only way to do it is to create a User for each Member? And if yes what's the reason to create Member at all?
And the quick follow up question. Can the member edit anything or is the concept of membership is used purely to manage permissions to specific sections of the site?
Answer to your first question: yes, you'll need to associate a user with a member, users can edit content in the backend, members can't.
Follow question: umbraco uses standard asp.net membership features, so yes, if you need to know what can/can't be done, then jump over to msdn to find info on what's really included in asp.net membership.
